You are invited - Community Meeting on the Meany School BEX IV Project

Seattle Public Schools invites you to a Community Meeting on the Meany School Building BEX IV Construction Project

Date: Thursday, February 13th, 2014
Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Location: Meany school building cafeteria, 301-21st Avenue East

Dear Meany area communities,

Seattle Public Schools invites you to attend a community meeting to learn more about the Meany school building construction project: this does not necessarily mean that your address is located in the future Meany Middle School boundary area.

Seattle voters approved the Seattle Public Schools Building Excellence IV (BEX IV) Capital Levy in February 2013, which includes the construction project to reconfigure the Meany building to become an attendance area Middle School and scheduled to open September 2017.

The meeting will be presented by representatives of Seattle Public Schools BEX IV Capital Projects Team and Miller Hayashi Architects, who will provide information about the project’s early construction design progress. You will be able to learn more about the construction project’s scope, schedule and design exploration. BiHoa Caldwell, the planning principal, will talk about features of a comprehensive middle school and potential academic programs at the school. You will be able to ask questions and give us input and feedback.

This meeting is not related to attendance area boundaries issues, but to the construction project to re-purpose the Meany building to become a Middle School.

We hope that you will be able to join us!

Voice your thoughts on Meany Middle School - Meeting 1/23/14

While Middle School seems a long way off to many of us, it is high time to start gathering input and collaborating on the development of Meany Middle School. Meany, our neighborhood public middle school, is scheduled to reopen in 2017. The Meany School Design Advisory Committee (SDAT) has had four meetings and the project is in the pre-design phase. As parents, we'd like to start organizing members of the feeder schools to ensure that we gather community input regarding the programs, activities and any other opportunities you'd like to see offered to our neighborhood's 6-8th graders.

To join the first of these discussions, please come to a meeting in the Stevens Elementary School Library on Thursday, January 23rd at 7pm.

Don't miss this opportunity to make your voice heard!
